Blackberry Basil Mule

A perfect summer cocktail! Light and refreshing.

This recipe comes from my mom, Bonnie. She recommends Tito's vodka, but any decent vodka will do.
You can substitute blueberries for the blackberries if so desired.
You can also adjust the amount of vodka as desired; use 2 oz if you like your drinks a little stronger.

Blackberry Basil Mule


  • ¼ cup blackberries
  • 3 large basil leaves
  • 1.5 oz good quality vodka
  • juice of ½ lime
  • ginger beer to taste
  • additional blackberries and basil for garnish


  1. Fill a cocktail glass with crushed ice.
  2. Muddle berries and basil with the vodka in the bottom of a cocktail shaker.
  3. Add lime and ice cubes - shake vigorously for 15 seconds.
  4. Strain into prepared glass, pour in desired amount of ginger beer.
  5. Garnish with blackberries and basil leaves.
